Music Channels
One of the music video outlets would be music channels you would find this on television, artists mainly use music channels to show case their videos this is an advantage as the channels are dedicated to just music which makes it easier for their target fan base or generally people that are interests in music to find, for example the channel Kiss is just dedicated to music videos, the play list that is played on this channel would consist of the genres such as hip-hop dance and R'N'B.If the artist's type of genre was R'N'B their fan base would most likely find their video on Kiss's play list,however having your music on a music channel means money has to be paid as well as having to be a mainstream/well known artist to have your music video on a music channels play list. It is important for artists to have this type of outlet because music channels are very mainstream and is a very good way to gain more sells for their music. Example of this would be when a new Trey Songz single release had been played on channel kiss play list it from this outlet then reached number one on the charts list.The disadvantage of having a Music video on music channels such as kiss is that, to much frequent play can put people off and get bored of the artist song as they may get over played from its widely air time, not only does it put people off the song but even can put them off the artist as, they can then been seen as annoying . example of this would be a new up and coming artist such as Rita Ora, as she is signed to a major label they can afford to get her higher up for her music to be play frequently, meaning she is exposed to the public to often which then can lead to people getting bored of her very quickly. .

Direct CD/Special Edition CD/DVD releases
 Direct CD/DVD releases this outlet allows the artists fan base to buy and listen to their music in terms of direct support from the releasing of an album which is consisting of their latest music. Once released the CD/DVD's would be on sell within stores such as HMV this is a British global entertainment retail chain, in this store you will find not just CD/DVD's also game consoles and books.The advantage of this is that the artists gets a percentage of what their album earns, however fans may not want to buy the CD/DVD's which will then lead to them to turn to illegal downloads(mostly free).Directs releasing of DVD's has a big disadvantage this would be that videos are not shown in stores so therefore the consumer would of not had the chance to preview what they are buying.The use of this outlet such as Usher's album Confessions 1.1 million copies in its first week (CD's) with the release of his special edition which consist of Ushers music videos for the Confessions bring in additional income for the artist as fans can now buy the DVD for the album.

The most used outlet would be streaming websites for example Youtube, YouTube is an online public communications site. This site allows users to upload and have available videos for the public top view. Artists personally do not upload their latest music video's but they record label would see to this for the artists since It is a very successful way of marketing. The audience for YouTube is mainstream/worldwide from this viewing of videos go up to a large amount depending on it's interests, the advantage of streaming websites for an artist would be that it is an efficient way of getting audiences to see the artists video's (worldwide). Streaming websites also allow people that are not particularly your fans but gives them a chance to stumble across the artists video, in the case of YouTube this site showcases other links to various of videos in relation to the video being watched, this is a big encouragement for viewers to have a browse through other video's, this is an  artist advantage just from one popularity of a video can promote many of their other video's through the use of Youtube. A disadvantage would be that streaming websites is very competitive, in the terms of YouTube there is more than a million of videos that have been uploaded making it harder for people to view the artist's video. Example of the influence of this outlet would be the 'Gangnam style' music video through the use of YouTube it allowed viewings up to 7million views worldwide.

Artists websites are dedicated to the artist which may consists of their music, photo's, concert dates, events, and their music video's.The advantage of Artist websites allows fans to keep track of their movements and exclusive content, artist website only uses content about that specific artist which makes it easier for their audience to keep aware and up to date with them and their music releases, Artist websites also may have exclusive videos that have been released on before any other website, so the artists makes sure their fans get a view of their releases before any other audience. Last outlet would be downloads(legal and illegal), Music video downloads can be found on many website throughout the Internet, it is a fast and efficient way to get a hold of latest music.However the disadvantage of downloads can have a big impact on the sales of new music releases, before illegal download had came about the sales of music had been at a higher rate than today.The advantage of this is that there is legal website available meaning the music is not free has to be paid for. Altogether music video downloads is an fast and easy way for the artists fans. Example of where downloads are assessable would be itunes, itune is an legal website, where artists fans can pay for new music releases they can also preview the video before purchasing it.
