Final Music Video

Weekly blog :Week 7

Weekly blog :Week 7

This is the last week my partner and I were able to edit as our editing deadline was within the week. With this in mind we started off the week with importing new footage that was recorded over the weekend this was a huge set back since we had to re-edited with the advice in mind that our teacher had given us last week one of which was cutting to the beat in a way it was easier for us to do so since there were more shots for us to cut into our music video, we also kept another advice in mind that we had to get as many different angle so there is not just the same shot and that there is not the same shot for more than 3 seconds, these were just some of many feedback we had to include in our video to make this production successful. As it was the last week and our deadline was approaching it was crucial for my partner and I to take our free time to both contributed on editing the music video to meet the dead line. Within our editing sessions we had to complete the beginning of our music video as we added an introduction to make our music video different and we also delete all of our old shots that laid in the first verse and first chorus, as we had re-filmed shots for the first verse and chorus that met the feedback that sir had given us, we continued this for two days. Once the new shots were completed and in order our last day of editing which was on Wednesday was dedicated to the end of our music video and make sure as a whole that it flowed together. As a whole we both were able to keep to all of our dealine within this prodution and had put in as much effort as we could.

Weekly blog: week 5

Weekly blog: Week 5

In this week my partner and I have continued with the editing of our music video, I had to make sure all lip-synching was correct and in order as well as having to follow our shooting script, because of certain location changes some of the shots we originally planned to be in be a part of or video had to be changed, such as the location we had our narrative based in turned out that we was unable to film in the location we wanted, so on that day we had to improvise on where will look good but can freely film because of this the shots we had to change, when it came to editing me and my partner had to make some re-adjustments with our original idea so that it would make sense, at this point we were running a bit behind on schedule as we planned to have the rest of the week to edit but we already had to plan when to re-film so we can add shots that will link our music video together. My partner and I also realised that we were short on footage which forced us to drag out our clip’s which mad cutting to the beat of the song impossible. Next week my partner and I have decided we will have to reshoot specific shots so that we will be sable to cut to the beat e.g. the narrative shots.

Weekly blog : week 6

Weekly blog : week 6

In this week my partner and I were very busy as we had to book out our week to dedicate our time into editing to successfully meet our deadline, as we had re-filming to do on the
weekend , most of our new footage were of the chorus and beginning of our music video, once we had imported our shots, I went ahead on putting them in order which I found easy since all I had to do is replace the old shots with the new re-filmed one, at this time we already saw an improvement as we were able to cut to the beat and it looked more of a music video since we took the advice from Mr Phillipson last week. Since our constructive feedback was implied to our shots my partner and I, could see it building up to be exactly how we wanted it to look, Sir had explained to us that our artist should come across more aggressive one way is for her directly look at the camera with more attitude as it goes well with the song, because of all this feedback we both had a lot of editing to do more than we did when we first started however I did not find this challenging at all because over the weeks I developed my ability to be able to edited and the tools to use, which allowed us to get our music video done quickly but  efficiently as we took our time to meet the dead line which was on a Thursday that week. The only constrains we both had on meeting the deadline was that we came down to shots that we felt needed re-filming, and had to have the shots in our music video and as it was too close to deadline we both had to come up with a solution fast, so that when we decided to browse YouTube to make our shot look steady as we could this is when we found out that slowing the shot down an blurring it can deceased the look of it looking unsteady.

Week 4 Weekly blog

Week 4: Weekly blog

In this week me and my partner started of with the editing of our music video. To do so we had to use imovie a programme in which is used off of Imac, the first step we had to take to do so was to import our existing footage, at that point we did not have 100% of our footage and planed to finish off the rest by the end of the week. As me and my partner started our editing we noticed that once our song was imported the layout of our song within imovie did not allow us to edited our shots to the song, this making it hard for us to do what we wanted to do, instead of editing to the song in that lesson me and my partner decided to use our time productively by sorting out our shots in terms of what would be potential used for our music video and which ones we would not being using. Due to the problems we had with imovie in the next session of editing me and my partner had got introduced to a new programme called 'Final Cut Express' our teacher gave us a basic run through on how to effectively use this programme for editing our music video, me and my partner both realised this is a much more complicated way of editing, so decided to have a quick look at tools to see what we could do and to get the hang of it. By next lesson after getting introduced to Final Cut Express me and my partner had gotten a pretty good idea of how to use the programme so we went straight ahead on cutting and putting shots into order for the meanwhile until we had got our 100% done which we planed for the weekend then we was to go ahead and cut to the beat of the song.

Week 2: Weekly blog

Week 2: Weekly blog
The second week me an my partners had finished of our individual sections for our script the script had to be 110 shots long and also colour coded, when we both complepeted the script we then had to send the sections we created to eachother. We also had to planed what days we was going to use to recored which was out side of school i also realised i had to find two male's for a short role within my music video, and decided two pupils in my class Halil and Aarun would suit the role, as well as choosing people for the role i had to suit out the times they were free aswell as fitting it in with my time table, once that was sorted i made sure everyone had the information of where and what time also how i would want them to be dressed.

Week 3

Week 3: Weekly blog
The thrid week me and my partner chosen days in which we would go and start filining for our music video. We both decided to start filming on monday in whihich we did up to 20 shots whihc were based in the park and stationn that would be for the start of our music video.  pick my partner in which we will both work as a team to create our project.I have chosen Becka to be my partners because i felt we can work effectively and efficiently together, she also has a similar vision for the music video which mean it will easy to collaborate with her when in the making. After picking my partner we then decided on who's music video idea we should keep and if we was going to put our different ideas together, in the end we decided to chose my music video idea which is relationship based narrative and my song which is 'Frances Lobo- Don't Know, Don't Care. We also had a think about if we was going to keep 100% of my idea and how we can change it in which we made a change to my idea so it was not a typical standard idea, so we agreed on changing my bed room scenes to Becka's Studio performance idea which will run through the chorus of my song. me and my partner also had to do a video post explaining why we chose to work together and the idea we chose to produce, in which the post was completed in the same lesson as the task was given. This week was also based on the roles that both of us individually and together will be undertaken, such as the shooting script was divided in to 55 shots each so with this we will work on together however other most of the other roles within pre-production we decided to split and work on individually which will make a more faster progress of getting things done. Later into the week we had a start on the shooting script but looked into depth of our idea together as it was mostly generalised, as we did so we completed the intro and not have left each other to finish our split 55shots section.

Locations for my music video Me and my partner have chosen to film the music video in different places:
Such as a street because it gives a urban vibe to the music video and we will also be using a street location to run through the chorus of the song where you will see the artist lip synching.
Another of our location is a park, we have chosen this location because we believe that it is an interesting area to film in as there is a lot of shots that we can take.
We have chosen to film up London because it is a
Beautiful setting to film(e.g lights)
We
have specifically chosen a shopping centre
Where it is more suitable for our music video as there happens to be more room for filming because there won’t be much of the public getting involved.

Weekly Blog Week 1

Pitch Reflection

Pitch Reflections

The  Feedback
Here is footage of my class who expressed their feedbacks towards my music video pitch ...

Areas of the presentation you would like to give any more detail on:
I think the areas i could of expanded on during my music video pitch such as my artist identity and my production schedule. First area i could of expanded on is my 'Artist identity' I didn't give a clear unique idea of how i personally want my artist to look like as well as how they are going to come across through within my music video. To expand on what i should of said when doing my music video pitch, that my artist is not going to be a replicate of Rhianna but will have 'similliar' aspects of the artist and how i will make her different is that she will have more con troll on what she will want to look like considering the genre of the music video is soul/jazz as these genre do not have a typically view on how artist are meant to be characteristically, so therefore my artist will have her own way of dressing wick is a way to put her stamp on the genre she represents. I would also have to expand on my shot types or angles that I wish to show in my music videos ,i would like my shots to have a lot of movement as well as being able to show my narrative, but i believe as my song is up beat my camera movement should compliment my beat, along with that i would of also of liked to cover that i would of used a lot of close ups to see the expressions of my characters, because my song is an emotional song it is important that there is many use of close ups as my song is emotional so this is a way that my audience can see the emotion shown of the character.

What my audience identified as strengths:
Once i finished my pitch, i then got feedback and questions about my pitch that i had to justify. The strengths i got from my feedback is that i presented my work with confidence, good tone and clear idea. I think overall the audience had an understanding on how i would like my music video to be like such as visuals, conventions etc.. i think this is because i went into depth and making sure that my audience was engaged as well as understanding what my most important ideas are some of the members of the audience stated "its was very in depth, that's why there isn't many questions to ask". Which you see in my reflection not many question were asked about my pitch.

What my audience identified for my improvements:
My audience had a few points that i had to improve on such as making sure i do not need permission to film up central London, i got this feedback from serife to improve this i will have to do some research and possible places i will like to record, so this does not effect the shots add locations i plan to have. another improvement i will have to look at is have a more unique idea for my artist as Mr Clark pointed out "if my artist is going to be exactly like Rhianna" as i did many comparisons to the artist, to improve this i will have to make sure my artist does not have completely the same characteristic as Rhianna, one of the ideas i have come up with is that my artists will not be dressed in the sense for male gaze which is what Rhianna presents within her videos. I was also asked by another member of the audience about my age range which is 16-30years ask they asked "do you not think that 16-30, is to wide for my target audience" after i have been asked this, i then remembered i did not justify why i chose this as my age range and next time i should put more thought into my target audience.

What changes i will make:
After receiving the feedback from my class, i  then reviewed my video and thought about the possible changes i would make for my production. First change  is that i plan before hand and do some research on the places i would like to record, such as central London not knowing if i need permission to record in certain places can have and effect on my production schedule as i may have to come up with another location that is convenient to my music video, as well as not being able to look how i exactly planed for my music video to look, so the change will be that i should do more research in to everything I plan for my video.I would also like to change the narrative idea of my music video as my genre of the video is soul/jazz and has a unique sound to the song i believe the video should add to this as decided to use amplifying from Goodwin theory, a way i thought my music video can add to the unique style of the song is that  the narrative has an unique twist, this is one of the changes I would like to make as i thought about my ideas more, but i have not come up with what the "unique twist" will possibly be.

Analysing My Song

Analysing My Song
Walking away
Why’d you play these games...with my heart!
I can’t take the pain...I’ve had enough!
Put my heart my soul in to loving you-ooh!
But you don’t even care, do you? Do you? Do you? NO!
This first verse outlines what the song is about and in this case the girl talks about being in a relationship and tells the audience that she’s had enough of being played with emotionally. The lyrics is written in a way that she is talking to the person who is messing with her heart, as if she is (heartbroken) the reason why she is walking away with her love, this verse give a sad and emotional imagery of the artist but also a strong view as she is able to walk away from being played around.

I’m walking away. I’m walking away...I’m walking away
With my love
I’m packing all my things...and taking back my stuff
You cheat...you lie...you make me cry now that’s not right
Now it’s time. To say goodbye...you’re out my life
You want to jam...with your man dem...all time
Well its boom bye bye iii
You fink I don’t know when your jamming with a hoe. Always cutting off the line

This is the chorus where she explains more about how she is heartbroken, that the person she was with cheated and shows her more emotions from the word “cry”. In the chorus she repeatedly uses the word “bye” which shows she going to leave because of her hurt caused by the person. the reason why she is walking away with her love, this verse give a sad and emotional imagery of the artist but also a strong view as she is able to walk away from being played around.

Listen...listen to me I think I’ve had it up to here with all of your lies
I’m tired. I’m physically drained and to think I should of been number one in your life
Supposed to be your wife. Supposed to be the one you coming home to at nii..night
But you rather be out with your boys...grey goosing and chasing girls..Oohh
The last verse reveals more about how her heart had been broken, and it is written in a way that she is talking to someone who was her lover, lyrically you can see how the person did not treat her as she expected as in the lyrics she states “I’m supposed to be your wife” the word ‘supposed’ as in terms of something negative. This verse adds to her first as it tells you a bit more about how she got hurt from her lover.

Section 1 – Target Audience:
Age: 16-30
Gender: Female since it is from a females prospective in a broken relationship and how the female is hurt.
 Interest:  Relationship, music, Genre life
Location: Worldwide as everyone has relationships and problems no matter where there from.
Ethnicity: This song is targeted to any ethnicity

Section 2- Lyrics
The lyrics of this song expresses the emotions of the artist, the female singer talks about her heart being broken by her lover , in way that she is talking to him(which can come across of how you would argue with someone) so this lyrically shows that she has an aggressive toned voice and sings about mostly a breakup. She says how her lover had “cheated” and made her “cry” in which she talks about her wanting him to leave after the person hurt her in the list of way she states within the song. However the lyrics to the song are always not what they seem because slow songs can also mean depression and how someone is feeling down and not in a good mood - the song goes on to which can suggest an imagery of the artist taking her lovers life trying in which she says  “Well its boom bye bye”, the video can be showing all the bad experience that the artist had to go through because of her lover. The end of the song reveals more about how her lover had hurt her emotionally and physically as she says “I’m physically drained” the tone of the song shown by the lyrics seems as if it had built up to the end of the song where it gets more aggressive she shows this by uses repetitive words such as “listen. Listen”. The singer also says that “But you rather be out with your boys...grey goosing and chasing girls” which show that the person who is meant to be loving her and being with her does many wrongs in the relationship she had with them, as that is what he would rather do e.g. chase girls than be faithful to her.

Section 3 - Music
The Artist of this music would be a cross between Rihanna and Keyshia cole,, Meaning that the aggressive and  fast paste of the song can give it a urban/ R’n’B feel to the listener. The singer can also be a reggae artist as she has written in a way meaning (words) that you would expect to hear in a Jamaican ( patwa) accent. The song comes across aggressive with a lot of hurt from being in a relationship with a lover who did not actually want to love her so this type of style to her lyrics is typical within R’n’B. However this genre attracts a large audience her target audience may be narrow but many seem to like R’n’B within this typical kind (mainly girls). I personally think Cassie C in general terms write about loving someone who had hurt her in many ways and now they finally want them to go or she will leave with her love. The lyrics is a day to day life thing as many people can relate to so creating visuals to this when making my video will be easy to make.

Section 4 - Tempo
The tempo of this song is very fast paste and so is the lyrics. The tempo shows the actual feeling's behind the lyrics and also gives the audience a visual of what the video would be about relating the lyrics to. The instrument of a drums starts at the beginning of the song and never ends so this can be shows on a video with a girl playing the instruments. The tempo also helps project the artist voice to its full power as no beat or effects is added to make it sound more modern, it just creates a aggressive song that has a very strong meaning. During the chorus the artist goes full on with chaining the pitch to a more higher one like she is trying to shout out the important bit of the song out , this creates an emotional effect and can be shown in a video very well.

Section 5 – Video
The song is a girl talking about saving a relationship or either leaving it depending on what angle you look at it. If I were to produce a music video for this song I would have to go with the concept of having a girl who is in a busy crowd but shows how isolated she feels. She would maybe walk around a crowded busy area (the city) and have memories of the time she spent with her boyfriend. While she's walking around mining to the song the narrative can cut towards other couples as she remembers her time with the person. The video would have a slow pace like the song may also show her playing a guitar as people walk past her , i like this idea as it has a more natural and feel good look towards it.The video can also have a surreal angle towards it as it can also show someone most preferably her boyfriend reading a suicide note as it zooms into the letter the visuals expose what has happened to her and all her bad memories that she's had with him (he could be abusive etc), in the end he can wake up from a dream and realise that it was only a nightmare as she's sleeping next to him facing the other way , as he puts her arm around her and goes back to sleep the camera would zoom out and reveal that she has a suicide note in her hand and she's actually cut her self, leaving her to bleed to death.
